Multiwall polycarbonate offers insulation r-values of 1.6 for 6mm to 3.7 for 25mm.Polycarbonate is virtually unbreakable and is used in impact resistant glass, sunglasses, and dishware.Colors available include clear, white (often called opal) and bronze (often called smoke). Clear is for applications that require maximum light and solar transmission, like greenhouse. White is more opaque and is often used in tropical like greenhouses and to hide dirt that may accumulate on the roof or top hide images that are behind the polycarbonate. White also reflects the suns rays and will not accumulate heat in the way that bronze can do. Bronze will reduce light and heat, but is most often an esthetic choice. Bronze will also expand and contract more, possibly creating noise on large sheets.
